Save Food, Save Life

Chicken Ala Carte is a very inspiring short film directed by Ferdinand Dimadura in the year 2005 that perfectly depicts hunger and poverty brought about by Globalization. I was very moved by this video. It really shows how we sometimes take our lives for granted and that the world is a place that really needs our help.

When we look through deeply we understand that food could be the very precious thing that people need to survive. About 25,000 people die every day of hunger or hunger-related causes. This is one person every three and a half seconds, and unfortunately, it is children who die most often.

There is plenty of food in the world for everyone. The problem is that hungry people are trapped in severe poverty. They lack the money to buy enough food to nourish themselves. Being constantly malnourished, they become weaker and often sick. This makes them increasingly less able to work also, which then makes them even poorer and hungrier and ultimately leading to death.

I know that there's a lot people out there in the world who’s starving every day. This video is really touching... at the same time my heart is also got hurt watching the reality that they eat the leftover food and yet thanking god for it.. Quite Surprising but yet so real…. !!!

We, who live in the developed countries, often complain a lot about the taste of the food, the look of the food presentation, and just the smell of the food served. We should be rather thankful to God Almighty who have blessed us with enough fortunes. We have never faced the trouble in getting food to survive. Still we are wasting food in a reckless manner without just thinking of the weaker sections of the society who are starving for food. The main inspiring point in that short film was that it could clearly depict the hope and spirituality that never left these people (mainly children).

If we ask ourselves, we may get the answer as, ” We can’t do anything for these children.” Instead, I would say we must change our perspective. Rather we should say in unity that ,” Let us appreciate every gifts from God, hold each other hand and share love with people around us and help society in some way or the other...”

So next time when You waste food do “ Think and then Act” as action speaks more than words....!!!
